Acacia cyanophylla (Kıbrıs akasyası, Kıbrıs mimozası) (FABACEAE)

Acacia, which is native to Australia, is a genus of shrubs and trees, which can reach up to 30 m tall. The leaves of acacias are compound pinnate in general. In some species, however, the leaflets are suppressed, and the leaf-stalks (petioles) become vertically flattened. The flowers are arranged in dense globular or cylindrical clusters; they are yellow or cream-colored in most species, whitish in some, even purple or red. In February and March, the flowers are still on the tree. As acacia seeds can be difficult to germinate, immersing the seeds in various temperatures and manual seed coat chipping can improve yields. Acacia, a decorative park plant, can be cultivated in almost any coastal city in Turkey.

Acer buergerianum (Acer trifidum) (Üçdiş yapraklı akçaağaç) (ACERACEA)

Acer is a genus of trees or shrubs commonly known as maple. There are approximately 200 species, most of which are native to China. There are some species of Acer self-grown in clusters in forests of Turkey, as well. The seeds of Acer tree, or ‘whirlybirds,’ occur in distinctive pairs each containing one seed enclosed in a “nutlet” attached to a flattened wing of fibrous, papery tissue. Acers fall their leaves once in a year. They are red, green or yellow. Acers, with small flowers on them, present very distinctive appearance with different reddish color tones of their leaves in fall. Some species are preferred due to their stamina against gases, dust and wind. They are widely used in many areas.

Acer palmatum dissectum green palmatifidium (İnce yeşil yapraklı palmatifidium japon akçaağacı) (ACERACEA)
